Debye (electrical)
Debye (electrical) refers to a unit that measures the electric dipole moment, which indicates how much a molecule or particle has a separation of positive and negative charges. Think of it as a way to quantify how strongly a molecule can respond to an electric field—larger dipole moments mean the molecule is more polar and interacts more with electric fields. This measurement helps scientists understand molecular properties, such as how substances behave in electric fields or how they dissolve, and is named after physicist Peter Debye.
