Dead Reckoning Algorithm

Dead reckoning is a method used in navigation to estimate an object’s current position based on its last known location, speed, and direction. By continuously calculating the new position from previous data, it helps track movement even when GPS signals are unavailable. For example, a vehicle or robot uses sensors to measure how far and in which direction it has traveled since the last update, updating its position accordingly. While useful, dead reckoning can accumulate errors over time, so it’s often combined with other positioning methods for greater accuracy.
