DDoS (Distributed Denial of Service) attacks
A DDoS (Distributed Denial of Service) attack is when malicious actors overwhelm a website or online service with massive amounts of internet traffic from many interconnected computers. Imagine a crowd blocking the entrance to a store so genuine customers can’t get in. The goal is to make the website or service inaccessible, disrupting normal operations. These attacks often use botnets—networks of infected computers—to generate the traffic. Organizations use security tools to detect and mitigate these attacks, but DDoS remains a common method to target and disable online systems.
