DCCT

The Diabetes Control and Complications Trial (DCCT) was a major research study conducted from 1983 to 1993 that demonstrated how maintaining good blood sugar control in people with type 1 diabetes significantly reduces the risk of serious complications, such as eye, kidney, and nerve damage. It showed that consistent management of blood glucose levels leads to better long-term health outcomes. The trial helped shape current diabetes treatment guidelines by emphasizing the importance of tight glucose control to prevent or delay complications associated with the disease.
