DBA (Doing Business As)

A DBA, or "Doing Business As," is a registered name that a business uses publicly that differs from its official legal name. It allows a business to operate under a trade name without creating a new legal entity. For example, if Jane owns "Jane Smith LLC" but runs her store as "Jane's Art Supplies," she can register "Jane's Art Supplies" as a DBA. This registration helps with branding, marketing, and legal identification while keeping the official entity structure intact. It’s mainly a way to let customers and the public recognize the business under a different name.
