Day of Atonement (Yom Kippur)
Yom Kippur, also known as the Day of Atonement, is the holiest day in the Jewish calendar. It is a day dedicated to reflection, prayer, and seeking forgiveness for sins committed over the past year. Observers fast for about 25 hours, abstaining from food, drink, and certain activities, to focus on spiritual renewal. The day involves intense prayer services, repentance, and asking for God's mercy. It concludes with the Ne'ila prayer and the blowing of the shofar (ram's horn). Yom Kippur emphasizes reconciliation, moral introspection, and cleansing the soul in preparation for a new year.
