Dave Brat

Dave Brat is an American politician and economist who served as a Republican U.S. Congressman representing Virginia’s 7th District from 2014 to 2019. Prior to Congress, he was a professor of economics and a business school dean at Virginia Commonwealth University. Brat gained national attention in 2014 when he defeated a long-term incumbent in the Republican primary. As a legislator, he focused on issues like fiscal conservatism, economic growth, and reducing government regulation. After leaving Congress, he has continued his involvement in public policy and academia.
