Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR)
The Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) is a nonprofit, national organization founded in 1890, composed of women who are descendants of individuals who supported the American Revolution. The DAR promotes patriotism, historical preservation, and education through various programs and community services. Members engage in activities that honor their ancestors and contribute to local communities, such as scholarships, historical preservation projects, and educational initiatives. The organization also focuses on fostering a greater appreciation for American history and heritage among the public. Membership is by invitation and requires proof of lineal descent from a Revolutionary War patriot.
