A Database Administrator (DBA) is a professional responsible for managing and maintaining a company's databases. They ensure that data is stored securely, kept accurate, and easily accessible when needed. DBAs install, update, and troubleshoot database systems, monitor performance, and implement backup and recovery plans to prevent data loss. They also set permissions to control who can access certain data, and optimize database efficiency. Essentially, a DBA ensures that an organization’s data infrastructure operates smoothly, securely, and efficiently to support business operations and decision-making.
