Dantonists

Dantonists were followers of Georges Danton during the French Revolution, active around 1793-1794. They supported rapid and radical change to establish equality but later faced suspicion as the revolution became more violent. Dantonists opposed the extreme measures of the Reign of Terror and sought moderation, which put them at odds with more radical revolutionaries. In 1794, many Dantonists were arrested and executed during the Thermidorian Terror, symbolizing the internal conflicts within the revolution. Their legacy highlights the complex debates over violence, justice, and revolution's direction during that tumultuous period.
