Danon Disease

Danon disease is a rare genetic disorder caused by a mutation in a gene responsible for removing waste from cells. This leads to a buildup of certain substances, particularly in the heart, muscles, and brain. The most common symptoms include heart problems like enlarged or weakened heart muscle, muscle weakness, and sometimes learning difficulties. It primarily affects young males and can cause serious heart failure. Since it's inherited, family members may also carry the gene. There is no cure, but treatment focuses on managing symptoms and preventing complications, especially heart-related ones.
