Danish History

Danish history spans from the Viking Age (8th–11th centuries), when Norse explorers and warriors established trade routes and settlements across Europe, to becoming a unified kingdom in the Middle Ages. Denmark played a significant role in European politics, with periods of territorial expansion and union with neighboring countries like Sweden and Norway. The Reformation in the 16th century shifted religious power, and later, Denmark modernized into a constitutional monarchy. Throughout the 20th century, Denmark remained neutral during conflicts, joined NATO, and evolved into a prosperous, socially progressive nation known for its welfare system and cultural contributions.
