Dandy-Walker Cyst

A Dandy-Walker cyst is a fluid-filled sac that forms in the back of the brain, near the cerebellum, which helps coordinate movement. It is part of a condition called Dandy-Walker malformation, where structures in this area develop abnormally during pregnancy. The cyst can cause increased pressure inside the skull, leading to symptoms like a swollen head, problems with balance or coordination, and sometimes learning difficulties. The severity varies; some individuals may have mild issues, while others need medical intervention such as surgery to drain the excess fluid or address associated brain abnormalities.
