Damage Control Surgery
Damage Control Surgery (DCS) is a surgical approach used in emergency situations, particularly for patients with severe trauma or life-threatening injuries. Instead of performing extensive surgeries right away, surgeons focus on stabilizing the patient's condition. This may involve controlling bleeding and preventing infection, followed by temporary measures to protect internal organs. The patient is then monitored and stabilized before a second surgery is planned for more definitive treatment. DCS aims to save lives by addressing immediate threats and allowing the body time to recover before undergoing more complex procedures.
