Daboia russelii

Daboia russelii, commonly known as Russell’s viper, is a highly venomous snake found widely in South Asia, including India, Sri Lanka, and Myanmar. It has a stout body with distinctive markings and can reach up to 1.8 meters (6 feet). Its venom is potent, containing components that affect blood clotting and can cause severe tissue damage, bleeding, and even death if not treated promptly. Russell’s viper is responsible for many snakebite cases in its range. Despite its danger, it plays an important role in controlling pest populations and should be treated with respect and caution if encountered.
