
D. S. Senanayake
D. S. Senanayake was a prominent Sri Lankan leader and statesman who played a key role in gaining independence for Sri Lanka (then Ceylon) from British rule in 1948. He is often called the "Father of the Nation" for his vital contributions to nation-building and development. As the first Prime Minister, he worked to unify diverse communities and modernize the country’s economy and infrastructure. His leadership laid the foundation for Sri Lanka’s sovereignty and progress, and he is remembered as a founding figure in his nation's modern history.
