Dönitz Plan
The Dönitz Plan was a World War II strategy devised by German Admiral Karl Dönitz to extend the war effort after Hitler’s death. It aimed to establish a defensive underwater “U-boat” blockade to cut off Britain from vital supplies, hoping to starve them into surrender. The plan focused on using Germany’s submarines to disrupt Allied shipping, while minimizing the risk of losing large surface ships. Essentially, it was a shift toward a prolonged, submarine-based naval blockade strategy, intending to weaken the Allies’ resource flow and force a peace settlement through sustained economic pressure.
