Dönitz Doctrine

The Dönitz Doctrine is a military strategy developed by Admiral Karl Dönitz during World War II. It emphasizes the use of rapid, stealthy submarine attacks to disrupt and weaken an enemy's navy and supply lines, primarily aiming to cut off maritime commerce. The strategy relies on preemptive or surprise strikes, minimizing surface battles and maximizing underwater warfare's effectiveness. Essentially, it promotes utilizing submarines to cripple an opponent’s ability to sustain military and economic efforts, forcing them to react defensively and causing strategic advantage through indirect, covert warfare.
