D.C. Scurlock

D.C. Scurlock was an African American baseball player and businessman in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. He played for the Chicago American Giants, a prominent team in the Negro Leagues, which provided opportunities for Black athletes during segregation. Beyond his athletic career, Scurlock was involved in business ventures, including running a tavern, and he contributed to his community. His life exemplifies the dual roles of athletic talent and entrepreneurship held by many Black pioneers who faced racial barriers but sought success and community upliftment.
