Cytoplasmic division (Cytokinesis)
Cytokinesis is the final step of cell division where the cell’s cytoplasm divides, resulting in two separate cells. After the cell’s nucleus copies its genetic material, a structure called the contractile ring forms around the middle of the cell. This ring tightens like a drawstring, pinching the cell into two distinct parts. Each new cell gets its own complete set of DNA and enough cytoplasm and organelles to function properly. Cytokinesis ensures that the cell’s contents are properly divided, allowing each daughter cell to thrive independently.
