Cytopathology terminology

Cytopathology is the study of individual cells collected from tissues or body fluids to detect diseases, especially cancer. It involves examining cells under a microscope to identify abnormal changes in size, shape, or arrangement. Techniques like fine needle aspiration or smears help obtain cells for analysis. The goal is early diagnosis, guide treatment, and monitor diseases. Terms include "benign" (non-cancerous cells), "malignant" (cancerous cells), and "atypical" (uncertain or abnormal but not clearly cancer). Cytopathology provides quick, minimally invasive insights into a person’s health status.
