
Cyrus the Younger
Cyrus the Younger was a Persian prince and military leader in the 4th century BCE, known for his attempt to seize the Persian throne from his brother, King Artaxerxes II. He was a skilled soldier and strategist who led a Greek mercenary army during the famous Battle of Cunaxa in 401 BCE. Despite his defeat and death in the battle, his campaign is notable because it showcased his leadership and his influence on Greek soldiers. His story is also famous because it features in Xenophon's "Anabasis," which details how the Greek mercenaries navigated back home after their lost expedition.
