Cyprus Peace Operation

The Cyprus Peace Operation was a military intervention by Turkey in 1974 in response to a coup aimed at uniting Cyprus with Greece. Turkey aimed to protect the Turkish Cypriot community and restore stability. The operation resulted in the division of the island into two parts: the mainly Greek Cypriot south and the Turkish Cypriot north, which remains separated today. Despite efforts for peace and reunification, the conflict led to ongoing political tensions and a divided Cyprus, with no full resolution achieved.
