Cyprus Conflict
The Cyprus Conflict is a long-standing political and ethnic dispute between Greek Cypriots and Turkish Cypriots. Since the 1960s, tensions have led to tensions, violence, and division of the island into the Republic of Cyprus (mainly Greek Cypriot) and the Turkish-controlled Northern Cyprus, declared unilaterally in 1983. Greece and Turkey are major regional powers involved indirectly. The core issues include governance, property, security, and territorial boundaries. Numerous negotiations and peace efforts aim to reunify the island, but a comprehensive settlement remains elusive, leaving Cyprus technically divided and unresolved conflicts ongoing.
