Cylinder and piston design
A cylinder is a hollow tube where combustion happens in engines, providing a chamber for fuel and air to mix and ignite. The piston is a moving component that fits snugly inside the cylinder, acting like a plunger. When fuel ignites, it creates pressure that pushes the piston down, converting chemical energy into mechanical motion. The piston moves up and down within the cylinder, transferring motion to other engine parts. This efficient design allows engines to produce power smoothly, with the cylinder containing the explosion and the piston translating it into useful work.
