Cyclopia

Cyclopia is a rare birth condition where a baby’s eyes are fused together into a single eye located in the middle of the forehead. It results from abnormal development of the brain and face during early pregnancy, usually due to genetic mutations or environmental factors like certain medications or infections. Cyclopia is often associated with severe brain abnormalities, and most affected infants are stillborn or die shortly after birth. It is a form of holoprosencephaly, a disorder where the brain fails to divide properly into two hemispheres, impacting facial features and overall development.
