Cyclin B

Cyclin B is a protein that plays a crucial role in cell division. It combines with another protein called Cdk1 to form a complex that helps the cell progress from the G2 phase into mitosis—the process where the cell divides to form two new cells. As the cell prepares to divide, Cyclin B levels increase, activating the necessary machinery. Once division is underway, Cyclin B is broken down, allowing the cell to complete division and reset. This regulation ensures cells divide accurately and at the right time.
