Cutaneous Leishmaniasis (CL)

Cutaneous Leishmaniasis (CL) is a skin infection caused by a parasite transmitted through the bites of infected sandflies. It results in skin sores or ulcers that can appear weeks or months after the bite. These ulcers are usually painless but can leave scars once healed. CL is common in tropical and subtropical regions, particularly in parts of Africa, Asia, and Latin America. It is not highly contagious from person to person but can be managed with medical treatment. Preventive measures include using insect repellent, bed nets, and protective clothing to reduce sandfly bites.
