Cut-and-Cover Method
The Cut-and-Cover Method is a construction technique used to build underground tunnels, especially for subways or utility lines. It involves excavating a trench from the surface, constructing the tunnel walls and roof within the trench, and then carefully covering it back up with soil. This method is suitable for shallow tunnels and allows for straightforward construction, access during building, and precise control. Once the tunnel is complete, the ground is restored to its original level, often with the surface features and landscape reestablished.
