Cushing syndrome

Cushing syndrome is a condition caused by prolonged exposure to high levels of cortisol, a hormone produced by the adrenal glands. This excess cortisol can result from the body producing too much on its own, often due to tumors on the pituitary or adrenal glands, or from taking steroid medications. Symptoms may include weight gain, particularly around the abdomen and face, thinning skin, easy bruising, high blood pressure, muscle weakness, and mood changes. Proper diagnosis involves medical evaluation and tests, and treatment focuses on addressing the underlying cause to restore normal hormone balance.
