Cumming's valve

Cumming's valve is a medical device used to regulate intracranial pressure by diverting excess cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) from the brain's ventricles to another part of the body, such as the abdomen. It consists of a flexible, carefully calibrated valve that opens to drain fluid when pressure exceeds a certain threshold, then closes to prevent over-drainage. This helps prevent conditions like hydrocephalus, where fluid buildup increases pressure inside the skull. The valve's adjustable features allow clinicians to fine-tune drainage rates based on the patient's needs, maintaining optimal intracranial pressure and preventing complications.
