Cultural Particularism
Cultural particularism is the idea that each culture develops its own unique practices, beliefs, and values based on its specific history, environment, and social context. It suggests that these differences are so significant that they cannot be fully understood or judged by comparing them to other cultures using universal standards. Instead, to truly understand a culture, one must see it from its own perspective and recognize its internal logic and meaning. This approach emphasizes respecting cultural diversity and avoiding bias by appreciating that what makes sense in one culture may not in another.
