Cultural Models Theory

Cultural Models Theory suggests that people develop shared mental frameworks—called cultural models—that shape how they interpret the world, communicate, and behave. These models are based on common experiences, beliefs, and values within a group, influencing perceptions and actions. For example, cultural models help explain why different societies might view concepts like time, hierarchy, or family differently. They are not conscious blueprints but implicit guides that facilitate understanding and coordination among members of a culture, enabling smoother social interactions and preserving cultural identity.
