Cubs' Curse
The "Cubs' Curse" refers to the Chicago Cubs' long-standing championship drought, during which they did not win a World Series from 1908 until 2016—an 108-year gap. The myth of a "curse" emerged after a 1945 superstition involving a family visiting the team’s grounds. Many believed bad luck prevented the Cubs from winning; however, the drought was mainly due to inconsistent team performance and difficult baseball circumstances. In 2016, the Cubs finally broke the curse, winning their first World Series in over a century, ending years of fan frustration and superstition.
