CSS Alabama
CSS Alabama was a famous Confederate ship during the American Civil War, built by the British in 1862. It was a fast, agile warship designed to disrupt Union shipping by attacking and sinking ships traveling overseas. The Alabama operated mainly in the Atlantic and Caribbean, capturing or destroying numerous Union vessels. Its actions caused significant concern for the U.S. government, raising questions about British neutrality. The ship was ultimately sunk by the U.S. Navy in 1864 near France to prevent its capture. The CSS Alabama remains an important symbol of naval warfare and international maritime history from that era.
