CSMA/CD (Carrier Sense Multiple Access with Collision Detection)
CSMA/CD (Carrier Sense Multiple Access with Collision Detection) is a method used in Ethernet networks to avoid data collisions when multiple devices share the same communication medium. Devices first listen to see if the network is free. If it’s clear, they transmit data. If two devices transmit simultaneously, a collision occurs, and both detect it. They then stop transmitting, wait for a random time, and try again. This process helps manage network traffic efficiently, reducing data loss and ensuring fair access for all devices sharing the network.
