CSF1R

CSF1R (Colony Stimulating Factor 1 Receptor) is a protein found on certain immune cells, mainly macrophages. It acts as a communication point, receiving signals from other molecules called CSF1 and IL-34, which tell these cells when to grow, move, or survive. Proper functioning of CSF1R is essential for immune health and maintaining healthy tissue environments. When CSF1R malfunctions or is mutated, it can lead to immune deficiencies or contribute to diseases like certain cancers or neurological disorders. Scientists study CSF1R to develop targeted therapies for these conditions.
