CSF study
A CSF (cerebrospinal fluid) study involves analyzing the fluid surrounding the brain and spinal cord to help diagnose neurological conditions. During the procedure, a small amount of CSF is collected via a lumbar puncture (spinal tap). The lab then examines the fluid for signs of infection, bleeding, inflammation, or abnormal proteins. This helps doctors identify issues like meningitis, multiple sclerosis, or subarachnoid hemorrhage. The test provides valuable information about the brain and spinal cord’s health and guides appropriate treatment.
