CSE (Combined Spinal-Epidural)
A Combined Spinal-Epidural (CSE) is a technique used in childbirth and surgeries to provide pain relief. It involves two steps: first, a small amount of medication is injected into the spinal fluid to quickly numb the lower body. Then, a catheter is placed in the epidural space around the spinal cord, allowing continuous or additional doses of anesthetic if needed. This approach offers both rapid relief and ongoing control of pain, enabling the patient to remain comfortable and awake during procedures. CSE is effective, safe, and commonly used for labor and certain surgeries.
