Crystalloids
Crystalloids are clear, watery solutions containing minerals like salt or sugar, which are used in medicine to replace lost fluids in the body. They help maintain blood pressure, hydrate tissues, and restore balance when someone is dehydrated or has experienced blood loss. Examples include saline (salt water) and dextrose solutions. Because they easily pass through blood vessel walls into tissues, they are commonly used in intravenous therapy to quickly improve hydration and electrolyte levels, supporting overall bodily function during medical treatment or emergencies.
