Crystallization of salts

Crystallization of salts occurs when a solution containing dissolved salts becomes saturated, meaning it cannot hold any more salt at a given temperature. As the solution cools or evaporates, the excess salt ions come together to form solid, organized structures called crystals. These crystals grow as more salt ions join the initial organized pattern. Crystallization is a natural way salts transition from a dissolved state in liquid to a solid form, and it’s fundamental in processes like mineral formation, salt production, and purification. The shape and size of the crystals depend on conditions such as temperature, concentration, and the presence of other substances.
