Crocking

Crocking is the process where the color or dye from a fabric transfers onto other surfaces or materials through friction or repeated contact. It commonly occurs when clothing, upholstery, or fabrics are rubbed against each other or against objects, especially if the dyeing process wasn't set properly. For example, a dark-colored shirt might transfer dye onto a light-colored bag after being worn or washed. This phenomenon is more prevalent with loose or poorly bonded dyes and is an important consideration for manufacturers and consumers to assess durability and colorfastness of textiles.
