Croatian Glagolitism

Croatian Glagolitism refers to the use of the Glagolitic script, the oldest known Slavic alphabet, in Croatia's religious and cultural history. Developed in the 9th century by Saints Cyril and Methodius, it was adapted by Croatian clergy for translating religious texts, primarily in the 12th to 19th centuries. This script was unique to Croats and distinguished their cultural identity, especially in medieval times. Its use diminished with the spread of Latin and Cyrillic scripts, but it remains a symbol of Croatian heritage and literacy, often showcased in historic manuscripts, church inscriptions, and cultural artifacts.
