Croatian Church Slavonic
Croatian Church Slavonic is a historical liturgical language used by Croatian Orthodox and Catholic churches, derived from the Old Church Slavonic used in Eastern Europe. It was adapted with regional influences to serve religious services, preserving certain old Slavic vocabulary and grammatical features. Although it is no longer a standard spoken language, it has played a vital role in religious tradition, liturgy, and hymnody, especially in Croatia's ecclesiastical history. Today, its use is mostly ceremonial and scholarly, serving as a cultural and religious link to the medieval Slavic literary and spiritual heritage.
