Critias (philosopher)
Critias was an ancient Greek philosopher and politician, associated with the Sophist tradition and a member of the influential Thirty Tyrants in Athens. Known for his sharp rhetoric and political influence, he also engaged in philosophical debates about justice, virtue, and the nature of truth. While his philosophical work is less well-preserved than some of his contemporaries, his writings and actions reflect an interest in power, persuasion, and societal order. Critias's legacy is complex, combining philosophical inquiry with political ambition, and he is remembered as both a learned thinker and a controversial historical figure.
