Creatine Kinase-MB
Creatine Kinase-MB (CK-MB) is an enzyme found mainly in heart muscle cells. When the heart experiences damage, such as during a heart attack, these cells release CK-MB into the bloodstream. Measuring its levels helps doctors detect and assess heart muscle injury. Elevated CK-MB can indicate heart problems, but it's often used alongside other tests for a comprehensive diagnosis. Normally, CK-MB levels are low in healthy individuals, making it a useful marker for diagnosing cardiac events.
