Covishield

Covishield is a COVID-19 vaccine developed collaboratively by AstraZeneca and the University of Oxford, produced in India by the Serum Institute. It uses a harmless virus (a chimpanzee adenovirus) to deliver genetic instructions to our cells, prompting them to produce a piece of the virus called the spike protein. This trains the immune system to recognize and fight the real COVID-19 virus if encountered later. Covishield has been shown to reduce severe illness, hospitalization, and death from COVID-19. It is administered in two doses and is a key tool in controlling the pandemic globally.
