Covenant of Works
The Covenant of Works is a theological concept that describes a relationship between God and humans established before the fall into sin. It posits that Adam was created with the obligation to obey God's command—specifically, to not eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil—in order to earn life and blessing. If Adam obeyed, he would live; if he disobeyed, he would face death. This covenant emphasizes that human salvation depends on perfect obedience to God’s law, highlighting the idea that moral responsibility is foundational to the relationship between humans and God.
