Court of Appeals (Divan-ı Hümayun)
The Court of Appeals, known as Divan-ı Hümayun in the Ottoman Empire, was the highest judicial authority responsible for reviewing and deciding on legal cases and administrative disputes. It served as the ultimate court of appeals, ensuring uniform application of laws and justice across the empire. Composed of high-ranking officials and advisors, it also played a significant role in advising the Sultan on legal and political matters. The court’s decisions helped maintain legal consistency and stability in governance, functioning as both a judicial and advisory body within the Ottoman administrative system.
