Counter-Insurgency

Counter-insurgency (COIN) refers to strategies and actions taken by governments or military forces to combat insurgent groups—armed movements challenging authority or stability. It involves a combination of military efforts, intelligence gathering, and efforts to win local support by addressing social, political, and economic issues that fuel unrest. The goal is to weaken insurgents’ influence while helping communities rebuild trust and stability. Effective counter-insurgency requires understanding the underlying causes of insurgency and working collaboratively with local populations to restore security and governance.
